Bio
Partners-in Rhyme, Sara Holbrook and Michael Salinger are teaching
artists who inspire and engage students as those writers build literacy skills
and find their own voices. Prior to
entering the field of education, both spent time in the business world writing
work instructions and technical writing (Michael) and speeches, press releases
and brochures (Sara), in today’s educational jargon: informational text. Both believe strongly that writing and
performing poetry made them stronger communicators.
Together they provide professional development for teachers, conduct classroom
writing and public speaking workshops, are frequent conference speakers, and
provide edu-taining assemblies for kids.
They have visited schools in over 30 countries and have extensive experience writing with second language learners.
Sara Holbrook is a full time educator, author/poet and
consultant who brings practical knowledge to the classroom helping students to
develop the complex thinking and literacy skills. With over 30 years’
experience as a writer in the fields of education, law, public housing, and
drug prevention, she has been teaching in classrooms around the US and abroad
for over 20 years. The author of more than a dozen books for children, adults
and teachers, she is an award-winning performance poet and the author of Practical Poetry: A Non-standard Approach to
