Stephanie Harvey has spent the past
forty plus years teaching and learning about reading and writing. After
fifteen years of regular elementary and special education teaching, Steph
became a staff developer for the Denver based Public Education and Business
Coalition (PEBC), a partnership of leaders from education and business who
support innovation in public schools. She currently serves as a literacy
consultant and staff developer to schools and districts throughout the world.
Steph has published articles in Language Arts, Reading Teacher, Ed
Leadership and other educational publications. Her books and
resources include Nonfiction Matters , Strategies That Work 2nd
Ed, Comprehension and Collaboration, The
Comprehension Toolkit Series, National Geographic Ladders, a wide range of
assorted classroom videos and her most recent resource, Connecting
Comprehension with Technology. co-written with Katie Muhtaris, Kristin
Ziemke and Anne Goudvis. Steph has two grown children and lives in Denver
with her husband and their grand bull dogs Boo Radley and Otis Redding. Insatiably
curious about student thinking, she is a teacher first and foremost and continues to work in schools on a regular basis, savoring
any time spent with kids.
